Experience
I recieved my PhD from the University of York in 2015, with a focus on the early career of the Victorian portraitist John Singer Sargent, on whom I've given a number of talks. I am currently the Visual Arts Convenor for the BRLSI (Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution), where I organise educational programmes, exhibitions and talks on the Visual Arts. I also give lectures there myself, and I have recently curated an exhibition on the photographer Sebastiao Salgado (November 2016).
I have also published on such varied topics as Sargent, Vernon Lee, Henry Tonks, Aestheticism and the intersections between literary and visual Impressionism. My current work involves the WWI art of the British War Memorials Committee. Please do get in touch if you're interested in a talk or would like to come talk with me at the BRLSI (brlsi.org).
